• Describe the laws and regulations that govern leaves of absence, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and state law considerations including workers' compensation.
• Discuss how employers determine whether an employee is eligible for FMLA leave, including how to determine eligibility for FMLA leave if an employer doesn't have at least 50 employees within 75 miles of some of its worksite locations.
• Provide practical tips for designing leave policies.
