Presentation Will Focus on Employer Compliance, Case Law, and Industry Trends for FMLA/ADA
Signed into law in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sought to prohibit discrimination based on disability by requiring employers to make “reasonable accommodations” to employees with disabilities. With the passing of 2009’s Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), the scope and impact of the original Act was materially expanded: under the ADAAA provisions, fully 19 percent of working Americans may be classified as living with a disability.
