shutterstock_651374227While the last two decades witnessed a steady rise in pregnancy discrimination claims filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), there is good news out there for working families.

Many companies are opting to create innovative and forward-thinking ways to support working parents and, in some cases, companies are blazing the trail ahead of state or federal legislation. There is no mandated federal parental-leave policy to follow, so many employers are opting to craft their own, according to HR Executive.

IRS Changes HSA Limit for 2018

Thursday May 10The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently released Revenue Procedure 2018-27 to modify the 2018 health savings account (HSA) family contribution limit back to $6,900. This is the second, and likely final, change in limit during 2018.

What Employers Need to Know about SCOTUS Hobby Lobby Ruling

481908451On June 30, 2014 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision in a case generally referred to as the Hobby Lobby case. Hobby Lobby is a family-owned for-profit corporation. The family that owns Hobby Lobby strongly believes that it would violate their deeply held religious values and obligations to provide coverage for four of the types of contraception that non-grandfathered plans must cover as preventive care. (The four drugs -- two types of IUDs and two types of "morning after pills" -- operate in a manner that violates their belief that life begins at conception.) Hobby Lobby sued HHS on the basis that the requirement to cover these contraceptives violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. The Court held that:
