UBA would like to inform our Partners about the status of the UBA Captive. Launched in 2015, the UBA Captive was spearheaded by several UBA Partner Firms in partnership with UBA. The UBA Captive received moderate success the past several years.

Following Tokio Marine's purchase of HCC, the captive insurance agreement with Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC) has been dissolved and will end in this contract year on December 31, 2017. Under the TMHCC agreement, the captive continued to provide coverage and operate as intended until all risks have been settled, but TMHCC did not offer a UBA captive option at renewal, and for those that have received a captive proposal for the 2018 captive cell, those proposals will be nullified.

UBA will be researching captive options in 2018. Ron Fuhrman, Partner with UBA Partner Firm TrueNorth, continues to work with a group of insureds to cover the risks of owners that remain in the current captive.
